Shop Service & Pricing Guide
This guide explains what we do, what it usually costs, how estimates and approvals work, and what our warranty covers. It is a reference document — there is nothing to fill in or send back. Prices below are typical ranges for common vehicles; the figure that binds us is the one on your written estimate.
Section 1 — Service Menu & Typical Prices
Labour is charged at our standard hourly rate, billed in quarter-hour increments after the first hour. Larger engines, seized fasteners and hard-to-reach components move a job toward the upper end of its range.
| | |
|---|
| Parts plus 0.5 hour labour | Same day, usually within an hour |
Full service (oil, filters, fluids, 30-point check) | Fixed package price by engine size | |
Brake pads and discs, per axle | Parts plus 1.5 – 2.5 hours labour | |
Diagnostic scan and road test | One hour at the standard labour rate | |
Tyre fitting and balancing, per wheel | | |
| Fixed fee; seized adjusters quoted separately | |
Battery test and replacement | Test free with any service; battery at cost plus fitting | |
Air-conditioning regas and leak check | Fixed fee by refrigerant type | |
Timing belt and water pump | Quoted per model — book-time labour plus kit | |
| Fixed fee, written report included | |
Section 2 — Recommended Maintenance Intervals
Whichever comes first — distance or time. Short trips, towing, dusty roads and stop-start city driving shorten every interval below.
| | |
|---|
Engine oil and oil filter | | |
Tyre rotation and pressure check | | |
| | |
| | |
| | |
| 60,000 – 100,000 km by plug type | |
Timing belt (where fitted) | 90,000 – 150,000 km per manufacturer | |

Section 3 — Diagnostics, Estimates & Approvals
- You describe the symptom. We book the car in and agree a diagnostic slot.
- We charge one hour of diagnostic labour up front. If you then approve the repair, that hour is credited against the repair invoice.
- We send a written estimate listing parts, labour hours and taxes, with photos of anything worn or damaged.
- Nothing is fitted until you approve the estimate in writing. A verbal go-ahead over the phone is confirmed by message before work starts.
- If the job turns out to need more than the estimate, we stop and call you. We never exceed an approved estimate by more than ten percent without a fresh approval.
- Old parts are kept for you to inspect for seven days after collection unless they must be returned as a core exchange.
Section 4 — Parts Sourcing
- OEM — the manufacturer’s own part. Highest cost, exact fit, and the right choice for anything still under factory warranty.
- Original-equipment supplier — the same factory that supplies the carmaker, in its own box. Same quality, typically cheaper.
- Quality aftermarket — reputable brands we have used for years. Good value on wear items such as pads, filters and wipers.
- Reconditioned or exchange — alternators, starters, turbochargers and calipers rebuilt to specification, supplied with their own warranty.
- Used — only where a part is discontinued, and only after we tell you it is used and why.
- Customer-supplied parts — we will fit them on request, but labour is charged in full and no warranty applies to the part or to the labour of fitting it.
Section 5 — Parts & Labour Warranty
- Our workmanship is warranted for 12 months or 20,000 km, whichever comes first.
- Parts we supply carry the manufacturer’s warranty, normally 12 to 24 months. We handle the claim on your behalf.
- A warranty repair is free of charge for both the part and the labour to refit it.
- The warranty does not cover wear items consumed in normal use, damage from an accident or misuse, or a fault caused by another workshop’s later work on the same system.
- Keep your invoice — it is the warranty document. We also hold a copy on file for seven years.
Section 6 — Hours, Drop-Off & Collection
- Workshop hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 18:00, and Saturday 8:00 to 13:00. Closed Sundays and public holidays.
- Drop-off is from 7:30. Arriving before 9:00 gives the best chance of same-day completion.
- Collection is until 18:00 on weekdays. Tell us at booking if you need a later collection and we will arrange it.
- After-hours key drop: use the secure slot beside the reception door, with the key in the envelope provided and your name, phone number and plate written on it.
- A courtesy car is available on request for jobs over one day, subject to availability. Bring your driving licence; you are responsible for fuel and for any traffic fines incurred.
- Please remove valuables before drop-off. We cannot accept responsibility for items left in the vehicle.
Section 7 — Payment & Vehicle Storage
- We accept cash, debit and credit cards, and bank transfer. Payment is due on collection.
- Jobs with a parts order above an agreed threshold require a deposit covering the parts before we order them.
- Special-order parts are non-returnable once fitted or once the supplier declines a return.
- Vehicles left more than three days after we notify you that work is complete attract a daily storage charge.
- We retain a lien over the vehicle until the invoice is settled in full, as permitted by law.
Section 8 — If You Break Down
- Get off the carriageway if you safely can, switch on hazard lights and stand well away from moving traffic.
- Do not keep driving with a red warning light showing — oil pressure, coolant temperature and charging faults cause permanent damage within minutes.
- Call your roadside assistance provider, or call us during workshop hours and we will arrange recovery to the shop.
- Photograph any warning lights and note what you heard, smelled or felt just before the fault. It shortens the diagnosis considerably.
- If the car is recovered outside our hours, leave it in the marked bay and use the after-hours key drop. We will call you the next working morning.
