Slope Guide, Pricing & Arena Rules
Everything you need before you step onto the snow: how the slope is laid out, when the lifts run, what a session costs, what to wear, and the rules that keep a busy indoor slope safe. This is a reference document — there is nothing to fill in or return. Prices are indicative; the tariff displayed at the front desk is the one that applies on the day.
The arena is one continuous indoor snow slope divided into four zones. Zone signage at the top of each section repeats the gradient and the minimum level required.
| | |
|---|
| Near flat, 4–6° — served by the short magic carpet | First-timers and lesson groups only |
| 8–11° — long magic carpet the full length | Anyone who can stop and turn under control |
| 14–18°, steepening to 21° at the headwall — button lift | Linked turns required — Level 3 and above |
| Side lane off the main slope — small kickers, boxes and rails | Open in park sessions only; helmet mandatory, no exceptions |
Section 2 — Sessions & Timetable
- Recreational sessions run on the hour, every hour, and last 55 minutes on the snow.
- The first session opens at 09:00 and the last starts at 21:00; the slope closes at 22:00.
- Beginner lessons run at 10:00, 13:00, 16:00 and 19:00, and use the nursery and beginner zones.
- Freestyle park sessions run Tuesday and Thursday evenings and on Sunday mornings.
- Race training and club squad sessions run on weekday mornings; the main slope is gated during these.
- The slope is groomed for 20 minutes between the last evening session and opening the next morning.
- Quietest times are weekday mornings and the 21:00 session; weekend afternoons are the busiest.
Section 3 — Snow & Temperature Conditions
- The hall is held between −2 °C and −5 °C all year. It feels colder once you stop moving, so dress for standing still, not only for skiing.
- Snow is produced overnight and groomed daily. Early sessions are firmer; late sessions are softer and more chopped up.
- Indoor snow is denser than natural powder — edges grip well and falls are firmer. Take the first run gently.
- Humidity is low. Drink water between sessions, even though you do not feel hot.
- Goggles fog when you move between the warm concourse and the cold hall. Leave them on your helmet, not on your forehead.
Off-peak covers weekday sessions before 16:00. Junior rates apply up to and including age 17. Rental is charged separately from slope access unless a package says otherwise.

Section 5 — What to Wear & Bring
- Thermal base layer, top and bottom — cotton gets damp and cold, so avoid it.
- A warm mid layer such as fleece, plus a waterproof jacket and trousers if you own them.
- Long ski socks pulled over the calf — one pair, not two, or your boots will pinch.
- Waterproof gloves or mittens. These are compulsory on the snow and are not lent out free of charge.
- Goggles or sunglasses, and a padlock if you want to secure a locker.
- Skis or a snowboard, boots and poles, fitted at the rental shop.
- A certified helmet — mandatory for every skier and snowboarder on the snow, at every level and every age.
- Jacket and salopettes hire if you have not brought your own.
- Scarves, hoodie drawstrings and anything loose that can catch in a lift.
- Jewellery, watches and anything valuable you would not want to land on.
- Phones and cameras, unless securely zipped away. Filming while riding the lift is not permitted.
Section 6 — Slope Rules & Right of Way
- The skier below you has right of way. It is always the responsibility of the skier above to avoid the one in front.
- Ski in control and at a speed that suits the slope, the snow and how busy it is.
- Look uphill before you set off or move across the slope, and again before overtaking.
- Overtake with a wide margin — never cut across the line of the skier you are passing.
- Never stop where you cannot be seen from above, such as below the headwall roll or in a narrow section.
- If you fall, clear the piste as quickly as you safely can, and pick up any dropped equipment.
- Keep to the marked zone for your level. Staff will ask you to move down a zone if you are struggling — this is about safety, not judgement.
- Follow every instruction from ski patrol and slope staff immediately, including a request to leave the snow.
- No skiing or riding under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Anyone who appears impaired will be refused access without refund.
- Stop and help at any incident, and report it to the nearest member of staff.
Section 7 — Beginner Zone & Lift Rules
- The nursery area is reserved for lessons and first-timers. Stronger skiers should use the beginner slope or above.
- Wait behind the line at the magic carpet and leave a clear gap between you and the person in front.
- On the carpet, stand still, skis pointing straight ahead, poles held in one hand and not planted.
- Snowboarders ride the carpet with the back foot out of the binding and resting on the stomp pad.
- Step off the top of the carpet promptly and move clear of the unloading area before stopping.
- On the button lift, keep the disc between your legs and do not sit down. If you fall, let go and move sideways out of the track.
- One person per button. Children under a metre in height must ride with an adult or use the carpet.
- Lesson groups have priority in the queue at the start of each teaching block.
Section 8 — Supervision & Access
- A signed waiver is required for every skier before their first session, and a guardian must sign for anyone under 18.
- Children under 8 must be in a lesson or accompanied on the snow by a competent adult.
- Children aged 8 to 15 may ski unaccompanied on the beginner slope once assessed, but an adult must remain in the building.
- Access to the main slope requires a level check with an instructor if you have not skied here before.
- Spectators may watch from the viewing gallery and the cafe. Street shoes are not permitted on the snow.
Section 9 — Ski Patrol & First Aid
- If someone is hurt, cross a pair of skis in the snow uphill of them so others are warned.
- Send someone to the nearest patroller, or wave both arms above your head to signal the lift operator.
- Do not move an injured person, and do not remove their helmet. Keep them warm and wait for the patrol.
- Patrol staff are first-aid trained and carry a radio. The first-aid room is beside the rental shop.
- Every incident, however minor, is logged. If you are treated, ask the desk for a copy of the report for your insurer.
- After any head impact you will be asked to stop for the day. This is not negotiable.
Section 10 — Lockers, Cafe & Facilities
- Lockers are in the changing rooms and take a coin or your own padlock. They are emptied nightly.
- Boot-up benches are next to the rental shop. Please leave outdoor shoes in a locker, not on the benches.
- The cafe on the gallery level overlooks the slope and serves hot food until 21:00.
- Free drinking water is available at the boot-up area. Glass is not permitted anywhere on the snow side.
- Accessible changing and a step-free route to the slope are available; tell the desk in advance so we can help.
- Lost property is held for 30 days. Ask at the front desk.
Section 11 — Booking, Changes & No-Shows
- Book online or at the desk. Peak sessions and lessons regularly sell out — book ahead where you can.
- Arrive 30 minutes before a session and 45 minutes before a lesson to allow time for fitting.
- Sessions start on the hour whatever time you arrive. Late arrivals are not extended and are not refunded.
- Move or cancel a booking free of charge up to 24 hours before the session.
- Inside 24 hours, we can move a booking once as a courtesy, subject to space. Cancellations are not refunded.
- A no-show uses the session or bundle credit in full.
- If we have to close the slope for technical reasons, you are offered a transfer or a full refund of the affected session.
- Medical cancellations with supporting evidence are credited in full at any notice.
This guide is general information about the arena and does not replace the safety briefing you receive on arrival or the instructions of our staff on the day. Ask at the front desk if anything here is unclear.
